Linux Client

Fedora 37 it is, then! Another bonus of using this flagship Linux distribution is that it now tracks the latest stable versions of Python. So, for example, by installing Fedora 37, you get Python3.11 out-of-the-box.

I recommend installing Linux on bare metal. Then, get an old (or new!) laptop and use it as your daily development host. The best option if you are looking for a new device is https://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/ because you can tailor the speck, but crucially purchase without a Windows license, saving a few quid and have some smugness.

However, to get cracking if you are a Mac or Windows user, using Virtual Box and install Fedora into a Virtual Machine. For documentation purposes that's what follows but the process of installing remains the same.
